riosleftsock 11:51 - Yes , same as.
It's quite easy, you just have to look up and Venus is stunning at the moment.
As you say download an app and a whole new world of discovery awaits.

I love science fiction me

One day, at this rate, we might have a man on the Moon by 3020.

Def

Always makes me wonder why people don't go on more about what planets you can see with the naked eye. Venus at the moment is awesome.

More people should download one of the sky viewing apps on their phone to start with.

Re: Space Station
Mike Oxsaw 7:35 - No correlation at all.
It's just people have time on their hands now and are doing things they otherwise wouldn't.
And theres no moon which makes viewing easier.
Speaking of the Moon, since Facebook so many people are obsessed with the moon, I get messages saying 'OMG look at the moon' to me it's just the moon, been there done that!
I got 6 messages the other day from friends asking what the mysterious object was in the sky, what the strange dot was etc
It's Venus but 98% of the time people don't take notice as their face is planted in their phone.
The ISS has been in orbit since 1998, some people are only starting to notice it now!

Great photos you have on your page.

I sent you who-mail with my insta page name. I don't want to post it on here as it contains my name.

Re: Space Station
Any correlation between these sightings and the reduction in traffic on the roads - or are these the dots that must never be joined?

cheesebgt 11:40 - That'll be good...for stackers!
I only ever take one shot, Don't know how to to stacks, stitches, composites etc and don't want to.
Are you on Insta?

boleynkid 11:40 - There doesn't seem to be any regulation on it?
The first launch was nearly a year ago but the design has changed since, they are painted black now apparently.

For a few years we had Iridium flares from Iridium satellites and they looked a bit like a meteor but bright in the middle and pointed at either end, they're de-commissioned now but I think a few are still in orbit so you get a flare from time to time.

Saw it earlier, right over the top of Upminster, a spectacular sight.

These feckers were going right overhead. Something else to worry about if one came down.

Re: Space Station
Frightening that they can just do that. I'll have to do some research to learn a bit more about it all.

Laughing at myself now but I honestly wondered what the hell was going on. I was just about to make a silver hat and sit on the sofa. When there are more and more I can imagine people who don't know about this becoming a bit alarmed.

On the plus side the space station was great tonight. Really clear up there.

Re: Space Station

I don't do astrophotography myself (I do event, bands and portraits) but I can see it being a fucker for those that do.

However, I reckon it won't be that long before someone will come up with software that will remove them from photos, though probably only for those that do it by stacking photos.

boleynkid - Theres going to be 12,000 starlink satellites.

Theres only around 2,000 satellites in orbit at the moment.

Re: Space Station
Starjunk Satellites.

Literally going to ruin astronomy, astro photography and litter space even more.
